Abdul Aleem Khan


Abdul Aleem Khan is an Entrepreneur, Philanthropist and a Politician. He was born on 5th of October, 1972 in Lahore, Pakistan. Received his early education from Crescent Model School, Lahore and then did his Bachelor of Arts from Government College, Lahore. He started active participation in politics by contesting for a National Assembly seat in the General Elections held in the year 2002. Following this, Abdul Aleem Khan contested in the By-Elections for the seat of Provincial Assembly and was elected as M.P.A in 2003. In November, 2003 he took oath as a first Minister for Information Technology, Punjab. In the Year 2012, he joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He became the President of Lahore and then the President of the Central Punjab. In 2018 he became the M.P.A from Lahore (PP-158). He later on joined the Cabinet as a Senior Minister for Local Government & Community Development, Punjab. Abdul Aleem Khan took oath for the Senior Minister & Minister of Food Punjab in April 2020. He resigned from the food ministry and also resigned as Senior Minster of Punjab on 26th November, 2021.

Apart from role in politics, he has also set up the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation which is currently working in various sectors including, Education, Health, and Community Development. Foundation is currently operating ninety plus Water Filtration Plants in underdeveloped areas of Lahore. The Foundation is running ten free dispensaries, which provide free medical services and medicine to the people. The Foundation is also running an Orphanage for girls by the name of “Apna Ghar” which is providing free education and boarding facilities to the orphaned girls in Lahore. Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation continuously makes financial contributions to the Health and Education sector by making donations to various educational institutions and health care institutes mainly Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, INMOL, Ghurki Hospital, NAMAL University, and Rising Sun Institute, DHA.

A new campus of Rising Sun Institute has also been set up by the foundation in Mughalpura, Lahore. The Foundation has also constructed a Hydrotherapy Swimming Pool and a Speech Therapy Department at the Rising Sun Institute Mughalpura Campus for Special Children. The Foundation also donated 2-Kanal Land along with paying for the construction cost of a state-of-the-art Abdur Raheem Khan Campus, Mughalpura for the education of special children. This campus consists of 3 floors and a basement also including the Hydrotherapy Pool, Management Center, and special classrooms for children diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. All the expenses such as cost of utilities, salaries of the teachers, allied staff and maintenance of the campus are handled and taken care of by the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation.

Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation also actively contributed to the construction/extension of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Lahore and Peshawar through donations throughout the years of their development. In recognition of the donations by the Foundation, the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Lahore has named the third floor of the patients' ward as Abdur Rahim Khan Floor and In-patient floor at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital, Peshawar named as Nasim Khan(Mother of Abdul Aleem Khan) Floor. Mammography and Ex-Ray Machines had also been provided to the SKMT, Lahore and Peshawar.

The Foundation is currently running a project at Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore, for the rehabilitation of a 60-bed Hospital, construction of Wash Rooms, provision of Water Coolers, etc to prisoners. It is also worthy to mention here that the Abdul Aleem Khan Foundation has deposited Millions of rupees in the Government Treasury and continuously pays when needed in order to release the prisoners who cannot afford to pay the fine on completion of their sentence.
